Hyundai Eon – A Good Value for Money

Hyundai Eon was introduced in October 2011 by the second largest car exporter and manufacturer of the country – Hyundai Motor India Limited. The South Korean based automobile company designed Eon exclusively for the Indian markets and this single reason has made it a top selling car in the recent years.

The small entry-level vehicle looks elegant and has room for five adults. The configuration of Hyundai Eon engine comes in 814 cc displacement with 3 cylinders and 9 valves, which creates a maximum power of 56 bhp at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 76 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is powered with a five speed manual gear transmission. The Hyundai Eon excels performance wise and has good fuel economy at 21 kilometres per litre.

The rear bumper is sharp and broad at the corners giving the car a curvy look which has been appreciated because it gives the driver a clear view while reversing the vehicle. There is a chrome strip under the bonnet in addition to the new shaped grill, clear wheel arches and spiky tail lamps. The top model of Eon features body coloured bumpers, ORVM’s, sporty roof antenna with fog lamps, full wheel covers, remote keyless entry, driver airbags and audio system with iPod and USB connectivity.

Coming to the interiors, the upper half of the dash is black in colour whereas the lower half is given a beige colour. The steering has a three spoke design with manual height adjustments on it. The centre dash has a small niche and a large glove box. A bottle holder is found on the door pads and in front of the gear lever. The well cushioned seats, with integrated head rests, promise comfort. The plastic material used is of a high quality finish. Hyundai Eon has a large boot area of 215 litres of capacity which can be further increased by folding the rear seats, if necessary.

Hyundai Eon is available in eight variants – D-Lite, D-Lite+, D-Lite+ LPG, Era+, Era+ LPG, Magna+, Magna+ LPG and Sportz. The engine and other basic specifications are same in all variants. They differ in the option of fuel, air conditioning, power steering, central locking and some additional luxury features. This car comes in six colour options – White, Silver, Mushroom, Metallic Silver, Bright Blue and Red.

Hyundai Eon falls in the price range of Rs. 2.87 lakhs to Rs 4 lakhs, depending on the model chosen. Due to its innovative fluidic design, high mileage and low cost, Eon is way ahead of its rivals like Maruti Alto 800, Tata Nano and Chevrolet Spark.
