Mahindra Scorpio is one of the first models that were introduced in the global market by the Indian automaker, Mahindra and Mahindra. Introduced in the year 2003, the Scorpio is a very popular vehicle that has received great attention and reviews in its home country and elsewhere. Mahindra has come up with face-lifts and other upgrades of the Scorpio from time to time.
Now, Mahindra is getting ready to introduce the latest version of Scorpio. The New Mahindra Scorpio, which is believed to be in the last stages of production, will feature many changes over its predecessor. Scorpio is looked upon as a strong and stylish SUV that offers a wonderful driving experience, especially on off-road missions.
The face-lifted version of the Scorpio, which was displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo in February 2014, will come with the same engine as the current version – a 2.2l turbo diesel engine – under its hood. The mHawk engine will be quite powerful at 120 bhp, with a torque of 290 Nm. For the latest version, it is expected that most of the changes will be on the exterior and inside the cabin.
Recently, the face-lifted Scorpio was spotted testing on the road. This test vehicle, though under camouflage, was found with an entirely new set of headlights, a revamped front grille, and redesigned tail lamps. The interiors of the New Mahindra Scorpio looked like that of the XUV 500. The inside looked like a rip off from the XUV 500, with the Scorpio retaining the beige colour scheme and a rectangle shaped display. It also has a powerful AC and a completely overhauled music system.
The prototype of the new Scorpio was noticed many times while doing road tests, revealing much about its looks and style. It certainly looks muscular and sporty, and is sure to catch the attention of the onlookers.
The SUV also displays the Mahindra logo more prominently as it is forwardly positioned with plastic interleaves. This change in the logo placement has made the exterior more appealing to the eyes. Again, an air vent not only aid in better flow of air into the inter-cooler, but also adds to the overall appeal is also a part of the new Scorpio.
The new Scorpio is scheduled for a launch during the first quarter of 2014. The pricing is not yet known, but it is expected that it will come with a price tag ranging from 7.8 to 12.8 lakhs. The face-lifted Scorpio will have to fight for market share with its competitors like Tata Safari, Chevrolet Tavera and Renault Duster among others. However, Scorpio has always done well in the market and hence the New Scorpio should do well too.
