Renault Clio, a hatchback originally launched in 1990, will be hitting the Indian markets soon. The 2014 version of the Clio, the fourth generation of the vehicle, has won the hearts of consumers from all across the world. This best-selling car from Renault is expected to do well in Indian markets too.
Once launched in India, Renault Clio will compete in the entry-level segment with the likes of the Fiat Punto, Chevrolet Sail, Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift for the market share. It is expected to be available in both petrol and diesel versions.
Designed after the concept car Renault DeZir, the exterior of Clio is sporty and bold. Offered as a 5-door car, the Clio comes with stylish design featuring concealed rear door handles. Moreover, the car will feature wider wheel tracks and the smaller gap between the wheels, giving it a distinct look.
The interior of the car will be inspiring as the dashboard is designed to look like the wing of an aircraft. Clio comes with great features like integrated tablet (named R Link), 7-inch touchscreen with customized features and voice command. On board navigation connectivity, powerful A/C, comfortable seats and a large cabin space are some of the other highlights of the Clio. Available in a range of colour options, the Renault Clio will feature a digital speedometer and chrome or gloss black trim for a modern, aesthetic design.
Safety features in Clio are excellent as it has bagged the first ever 5-star crash testing rating from Euro NCAP for the B segment. Some of the prominent safety features include highly effective airbags, the Fix4sure technology to avoid sliding out of the seatbelt in case of accident and the three-point ISOFIX child seat anchorage. All versions of the Clio are equipped with features like ESC, ASR traction control, ABS and emergency brake assists, as well as electric variable-rate power steering and cruise control/speed limiter.
Renault Clio comes with a great combination of fuel economy and drivability, thanks to the upgraded range of engines under its hood. The Clio is available in three variants – two new petrol engines, Energy TCe 90 and TCe 120, and one diesel engine, the Energy dCi 90. Apart from these, the Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox will be offered on the TCe 120 petrol engine and the dCi 90 diesel.
Speaking of the car, Renault officials had said, “New Clio is set to make a real mark. In addition to an unprecedented package of innovations, its design marks a major shift from that of earlier models.” If all goes well, Renault Clio is sure to do well in the Indian car market if it is competitively priced.
