The Benefits Of Connected Cars

Wherever you go today, people everywhere are now constantly connected to a mobile phone. No longer just teenagers, everyone from moms, to grandparents and businessmen and women are now constantly playing around with their smartphones. Understandably who could blame them? Not only are these devices insanely clever but give us the ability to take control of our lives.

From shopping on the go, to sending emails, connected with friends and colleagues and discovering useful information, today’s smartphones come with a plethora of possibilities. We are as a nation, obsessed with these latest technological developments which is why it should come as no surprise that today’s new cars are now just as connected too.

Not too long ago cars were just cars, without any clever little gadgets, sat navs were soon developed but it was a while before cars came with inbuilt sat navs all on their own. Fast forward to today and some of the biggest names in the car game have created vehicles with some dazzling new and exciting features and have introduced some fantastic new concepts.

From the BMW’s to the Mercedes; below I’ve picked the best of the best in new and upcoming car features that prove just how technology is impacting the way we drive…
Autonomous Driving

It may seem a little too futuristic to sit back while your car does all the hard work however this very cool idea may soon be a reality in the coming few years. Self parking systems are already a reality but autonomous driving is also an equally exciting possibility. Many however are arguing that it may take the fun out of driving and potentially pose too many risks but this is something only time will tell.

Crash Avoidance

One of the best tech features in some of the latest cars is crash avoidance. This is a phenomenal advancement in technology but how does it work? With unique technology cars are now designed not only to evaluate your position but the position of cars in front and any other obstructions and objects in the road that may pose a risk. When a risk is posed the car will come to a halt, even if the driver’s foot is not on the brake pedal. This is great proof of how new technologies are working wonders to prevent road safety.

Text Reading Technology

Mobile phones are often the biggest distraction to drivers and are the case of many accidents. Thankfully many new vehicles now come with text reading technology that will read out any messages or emails you receive and you won’t have to take your eyes of the road.

Smartphone App Integration

We all know that smartphones are virtually taking over our lives. We use them for anything and everything and car manufacturers realise this which is why now, smartphone app integration is a very real possibility. From checking local movie times to booking a table at your favourite restaurant; Audi is set to offer this exciting new feature very soon. This is definitely going to be a feature that changes the way we live!

Exciting isn’t it? It is amazing to consider just how much technology has changed the way we behave on the roads… who knows what changes the future will hold?
